BOZEMAN, MT, UNITED STATES, September 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Vision Aerial today introduced OGI Scout 2.0, the next generation of its aerial optical gas imaging payload for the Vulcan SX. The upgraded system integrates Aquanta Vision’s Pixel Analysis Mode, or PAM, adding a physics-based option for detecting and colorizing methane and other hydrocarbon gas plumes during flight.

Vision Aerial is the first U.S. drone manufacturer to partner with Aquanta Vision on an aerial PAM integration. The patented, physics-based software analyzes the infrared signal pixel by pixel and colorizes gas plumes live in the operator display. Because PAM runs directly on the camera, it adds no separate payload, weight or drag to the aircraft.

OGI Scout 2.0 continues to be built around Sierra Olympia’s Ventus OGI, a 640-by-512-resolution mid-wave infrared camera core designed to detect and visualize hydrocarbon gases. The Ventus OGI includes Sierra Olympia’s Gas Enhancement Mode, or GEM, which uses frame-based analysis to colorize gas plumes. PAM complements rather than replaces GEM by adding a pixel-based analysis option.

PAM can analyze and colorize plume activity while the aircraft remains in motion, giving operators another way to identify areas for closer inspection. During flight, the operator can view the standard monochrome OGI image, select GEM or PAM, adjust the mode’s settings to refine the image, and use Vision Aerial’s MarkPoint software to mark and document the finding in real time, saving countless hours of post flight work.

OGI Scout 2.0 incorporates Sierra Olympia’s upgraded SightLine 4000 processing board paired with a specially tuned convective cooling system, providing the computing capacity required for applications such as PAM. Together, the changes represent one order of magnitude greater compute and support indefinite sensor operation while advanced analysis modes are running.

OGI Scout 2.0 is available to order, demonstrate and ship now as the standard airborne OGI payload for new Vulcan SX customers. Existing OGI Scout customers can return their payload to Vision Aerial for a paid upgrade rather than purchasing a new system.
