CONMED Corporation Announces Expanded Indication for the FDA Cleared AirSeal® Robotic Solution for Use with the Intuitive da Vinci 5 Hex Cannula

CONMED Corporation (NYSE: CNMD) today announced that its AirSeal® Robotic Solution is now indicated for use with Intuitive’s 8 mm hex cannulas used as part of the Intuitive da Vinci 5 platform (“dV5”). Alongside its existing indication for Intuitive 8 mm round cannulas, the AirSeal Robotic Solution now has an expanded indication for use across Intuitive’s portfolio of da Vinci X, da Vinci Xi, and da Vinci 5 robotic systems.

Building on the existing indication for Intuitive’s da Vinci 8mm round cannulas, AirSeal Robotic Solution is now also indicated for use with the 8mm hex cannula. The expanded indication reinforces the clinical and commercial benefits of AirSeal within robotic surgery by supporting compatibility with Intuitive’s latest platform architecture and enabling hospitals and surgeons to use complementary technologies with greater clarity. Backed by over 40 clinical studies demonstrating the benefits of AirSeal at low insufflation pressures, the AirSeal Robotic Solution is intended to help enhance patient outcomes, support procedural efficiency, and strengthen CONMED’s differentiated position in a growing robotic surgery market.

“We are pleased to secure and announce this expanded indication for use, which was supported by extensive engineering and technical compatibility testing conducted by CONMED in collaboration with Intuitive,” said Patrick J. Beyer, CONMED’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “These efforts reflect our commitment to ensuring surgeons and hospitals are supported with the requisite compatibility data and clear product communication, while ultimately empowering them to achieve quality care for patients.”

Mr. Beyer continued: “We expect this expanded indication for use to provide clarity in the marketplace on how AirSeal and the da Vinci 5 platform work together to support consistent surgical workflows and facilitate positive patient outcomes. Importantly, achieving this milestone gives us further confidence in the compelling growth opportunity for our AirSeal portfolio.”
