19 Year-Old Rock Singer-Songwriter Gavyn Bernhardt Releases Debut EP ‘On the Air’

Philadelphia-area singer-songwriter’s debut EP protesting the decline and corporate over-saturation of the internet is out now, with release show September 6th

On the Air is about refusing to let big companies exploit our humanity in favor of AI. Otherwise, we’ll all end up trapped and alone…listening to what is essentially white noise.””

PHILADELPHIA, PA, UNITED STATES, September 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — 19-year-old singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist Gavyn Bernhardt has released his debut EP, “On the Air,” out now on all major streaming platforms and Bandcamp. Written, recorded, and produced by Gavyn and his younger brother, 17-year-old Owen Bernhardt, out of their home-built basement studio, Sightbloom Records, the eight-track project addresses isolation, commercialization, the current state of the internet, and how it funnels people down the rabbit hole into their own reclusive silos.

The EP follows three singles released in the lead-up: “Dead Sound on the Radio,” “The Masquerade,” and a cover of Tom Waits’ “Goin’ Out West.” All three tracks have picked up radio airplay on multiple stations in the US, Canada and the UK, including spins on Philadelphia’s 88.5 WXPN.

Bernhardt has built a reputation for his dynamic live performances around the Philadelphia area, including well-received sets at The Gem Music Hall in Spring City, PA, where he has been praised for his strong voice, guitar playing, and powerful, decisive style. He’s typically joined onstage by Owen, who moves fluidly between drums, guitar, bass, and cello depending on what each song calls for.

Drawing on inspiration from Tom Waits, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, and Jack White (among others), Bernhardt’s sound resists easy categorization; restless and hard-hitting one moment, moody and stripped-down the next. That range comes through across “On the Air.” Bernhardt celebrates the release with a live EP release show on September 6th.

IN HIS WORDS
“This EP was written over the last two years in response to the internet rapidly becoming a corporate hellscape. It’s isolating, flooded with ads, and hostile to real creativity. ‘On the Air’ is about refusing to let big companies exploit our humanity in favor of AI. Otherwise, we’ll all end up trapped and alone; curled around the speaker listening to what is essentially white noise.”

ABOUT GAVYN BERNHARDT:
Gavyn Bernhardt is a 19-year-old singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist who writes hard rock with psychedelic, experimental, and folk influences. His music changes fluidly between soft, vulnerable songwriting, and protest heavy, driving rock. Known for his dynamic live performances around the Philadelphia area, he often partners with his brother: producer, multi-instrumentalist & vocalist, Owen Bernhardt. His debut EP “On the Air,” a concept EP protesting the decline and corporate over-saturation of the internet, fuses manic sound collages with more traditional hard rock in a static fueled spiral that was written, recorded and produced by the brothers from their home-built basement studio, Sightbloom Records. Gavyn’s music has been heard on a number of different radio stations from WXPN 88.5 FM Philadelphia, to WDCV 88.3 FM (Dickinson College), WIUP 90.1 FM, CKMS 102.7 FM (Waterloo, Canada), Amazing Radio (UK/US), and many more. Additionally, with “On the Air” out in September 2026, Gavyn already has another two projects in development. READ MORE: https://www.gavynbernhardt.com/about
